Rihanna Tweets 'Nude' Picture

The Instagram photo Rihanna directed her Twitter followers to, which was attached to a tweet that read: ‘Here is my new add for a brand new fragrance #NUDE !!! Make sure you smell sexy, especially naked, this fall!!!’

Daring pop star Rihanna tweeted a “Nude” picture Friday, but she didn’t have to get naked to do so.

The “We Found Love” singer — who has more than 26 million followers on the social networking site — is releasing a new fragrance called Nude next year and took to Twitter to share her latest ad.

The Tweet links to an Instagram picture featuring a scantily clad Rihanna, smiling and sporting platinum blond locks. She wears lace lingerie and covers the rest of her body with what looks like some lightly colored gossamer.

“Here is my new add [sic] for a brand new fragrance #NUDE!!! Make sure you smell sexy, especially naked, this fall!!!” she wrote to accompany the picture.

Rihanna’s new ad generated a lot of love from fans, with 153,000 liking the picture as of Saturday afternoon.

Nude will be Rihanna’s third fragrance: she released Reb'l Fleur in the spring of 2011 and Rebelle in December of that year, to much acclaim from fans.

Posting her Nude picture wasn’t the only controversial move Rihanna made in the twittersphere this week.

It has been no secret this fall that Rihanna and abusive ex Chris Brown have been taking a second stab at their relationship.

This week, sources told the Daily News that the pair were kissing at Griffin in New York’s Meatpacking District. They then reportedly headed to the bathroom together for nearly 20 minutes.

And Chris Brown opened up to fans in a video to claim he feels like it’s possible for him to love two people. He had previously announced his split with model girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

Still, sources close to the stars called the romantic rekindling a “disaster in the making” this week.

"Chris and Rihanna just love the drama. They know their fans don't support them getting back together, and that it's a terrible PR move since Chris was convicted of beating Rihanna,” Radar reported.

"However, this is what Chris and Rihanna thrive on. There are still major trust issues that Rihanna has with Chris, with good reason, he was hooking up with her while he was still dating Karrueche. Chris and Rihanna back together in any capacity is just a disaster in the making."

Seeming to respond to the chatter surrounding her romantic life Thursday night, Rihanna tweeted, “Ain't nobody bidness..... But mine and my baby!”

Why Mitt Romney Won The First Presidential Debate

President Obama, Mitt Romney do their thing during Wednesday night's debate.

You want to know why Mitt Romney looked better than Barack Obama did last Wednesday night, why he came out of that debate looking like a winner? Because Romney was more persuasive making up stuff than the President was, that’s why.

That is what the election of 2012 might come down to at the end, if you are one of the people who actually needs these debates to make up your mind about Obama or Romney: Which one of them is better able to sell you a vision for the future like they are selling you a used car.

Or perhaps a used country.

Oh, Romney was much better at it in Denver. This was the first time his career in business seemed to help him. This was Bain Capital Romney, the guy who used to make leveraged buyouts sound like the closest thing to heaven on Earth. Didn’t matter how he scored points. Just that he scored them.

It’s why we should not only start keeping score at these things, but think about using a game-show format, one where misleading voters, or simply lying, costs you points. That way we won’t have to wait for MSNBC or Fox to tell us what we just saw, all we have to do is look at the scoreboard.

If diligent fact-checkers can work like demons in this fact-checker campaign of 2012, if they can sort out fact from fiction for newspapers in real time, why can’t they do it on television?

In the future, let’s have commercial breaks every 15 minutes. Then when they come out of those breaks and go back to the stage, the moderator can say things like this:

“Gov. Romney, you said that preexisting conditions will be covered in your health care plan — whatever that plan happens to be tonight — and you know that’s not true. In your plan, preexisting conditions are only covered for people with continuous coverage. So that’s going to cost you 100 points.”

Or: “Mr. President, did you really try to suggest before the break that Donald Trump runs a small business? Really? With all due respect, sir, that is going to cost you 100 points.”

Maybe this way the candidates could actually start telling truths to each other and, more importantly, to us. Newt Gingrich, who has occasional moments of clarity, called this the most important election of our lifetimes during the Republican debates. That means it ought to be about more than lying with a straight face.

There are two more presidential debates to come. Somehow, if these debates really are going to matter, there has to be a way to get these candidates off Fantasy Island.

The wisdom on this comes from Gov. Mario Cuomo, once the governor of New York, a man who should have been President himself once. Back in 2008, the early innings of Obama vs. Hillary Clinton, I asked Cuomo what he thought about what he had seen so far. “It should be about clarity and solutions and ideas and real vision,” Cuomo said. “But unfortunately, it will probably come down to the things it usually does, which means money and charisma and mistakes and bull---t.”

We need a buzzer going off at these debates, every time either Romney or Obama tries to get by with what is occasionally outrageous jive, even by the low standards of modern politics. No wonder Romney thinks he can get away with acting as if the Mitt Romney who got the Republican nomination never existed.

And he doesn’t get away with making the outrageous accusation that somehow the White House is cooking the books with unemployment numbers. And the President doesn’t get by just saying Romney is looking for $5 trillion in tax cuts without presenting actual math to back that claim up. Both candidates talk a lot about the middle class and the mortgage crisis that nearly sunk us all in 2008. But if either one of them gave out as much misinformation about themselves to bankers as they gave the country the other night, they’d both be turned down cold.

This is an America where our candidates actually seem to buy into the alternate reality presented by their TV ads, then raise tons of money in September so they can buy more ad time, and sell even more unreality to suckers.

One of them will have gotten by with a better brand of the last word Mario Cuomo talked about four years ago, right after he talked about mistakes. Starts with a B. Not for Barack.

We hear all the time about the real world, and real-world problems, and how both of these guys care about the struggles of real Americans. Only now we get this kind of campaign, like they’re running for President of Fantasy Island.

Unprotected Sex Makes Women Happier: Study

Unprotected sex is good for women's health and makes them feel happier, a study which studied the effects of semen's "mood-altering chemicals" has claimed. 

The State University of New York study, which scientists carried out via survey rather than through practical experiment, compared the sex lives of 293 females to their mental health. 

It follows research, which shows that seminal fluid contains chemicals that elevates mood, increases affection, induces sleep and also contains at least three anti-depressants. 

The researchers also claimed that women who have regular unprotected sex are less depressed and perform better on cognitive tests. 

Semen contains another of chemicals along with spermatozoa, including cortisol, which is known to increase affection, estrone, which elevates mood and oxytocin, which also elevates mood, the Daily Mail reported. 

It also contains thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent), and even serotonin (perhaps the best-known antidepressant neurotransmitter). 

Given these ingredients - and this is just a small sample of the mind-altering "drugs" found in human semen - Researchers Gallup and Burch, along with the psychologist Steven Platek, hypothesised that women having unprotected sex should be less depressed than suitable control participants.

To investigate whether semen has antidepressant effects, the authors rounded up 293 college females from the university's Albany campus, who agreed to fill out an anonymous questionnaire about various aspects of their sex lives. 

Recent sexual activity without condoms was used as an indirect measure of seminal plasma circulating in the woman's body. 

Each participant also completed the Beck Depression Inventory, a commonly used clinical measure of depressive symptoms. 

The most significant findings from this study were that, even after adjusting for frequency of sexual intercourse, women who engaged in sex and "never" used condoms showed significantly fewer depressive symptoms than did those who "usually" or "always" used condoms. 

Importantly, these chronically condom-less, sexually active women also evidenced fewer depressive symptoms than did those who abstained from sex altogether. 

By contrast, sexually active heterosexual women, including self-described "promiscuous" women, who used condoms were just as depressed as those practicing total abstinence. 

The research suggests it is not just that women who are having sex are simply happier, but happiness appears to be a function of the seminal fluid pulsing through one's veins.

Deadly Meningitis In US Grows To 91 Cases

Two Michiganders have died as a result of an eight-state outbreak of fungal meningitis that was likely caused by a contaminated steroid medicine used to treat back pain, state and federal health officials say.

The toll of cases nationwide soared Sunday by 27 to a total of 91, while the number of deaths stayed at seven, health officials said.

Unlike other forms of meningitis, the fungal type is not contagious, but those who received an epidural steroid injection starting May 21 could have received the contaminated medicine, health officials advised Sunday.

Anyone who received a contaminated injection likely would have become severely ill within a week, said Dr. William Sanders, division head of Interventional Neuro-Radiology at Henry Ford Hospital.

The number of known patients in Michigan infected with the usually rare fungal meningitis spiraled from six on Friday to 20 by Sunday, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta said.

Tennessee, where the outbreak is thought to have begun, had the most cases -- 32, including three deaths -- while Virginia had 18 with one death, and Maryland three cases with one death, a CDC spokesman said.

According to the CDC, the fungus causing the illness is thought to have contaminated the steroid medicine at some point during processing by the New England Compounding Center, a drug manufacturer in Massachusetts. The company shipped the compound to 76 health care facilities in 23 states, including four in Michigan: the Michigan Neurological Institute of Grand Blanc, Michigan Pain Specialists in Brighton, the Neurological & Rehabilitation in Traverse City and Southeast Michigan Surgical Hospital in Warren.

"Each of these centers should have contacted anyone who might have received an injection," CDC spokesman Curtis Allen said. "We've requested that they do so."

Over the weekend, the Massachusetts firm voluntarily recalled all of its lots of injectable steroid medication after initially recalling only three suspect lots, the CDC said Sunday.

The contaminated injections are not to be confused with "the type of epidural injection that pregnant women get when delivering a baby -- that's nonsteroidal," he said.

"This is a fungal form of the disease. It's very different from the forms that most people are familiar with, either bacterial or viral," Allen said.

Patients stricken with fungal meningitis typically suffer strokes, he said. Meningitis is an inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord.

Federal and state health officials have said that recipients of the steroid injections should contact their doctors immediately if they experience any of the following symptoms: severe headache, nausea, dizziness, fever, heightened sensitivity to light, a stiff neck or any fresh feeling of weakness or numbness.

SpaceX Lifts Off With ISS Cargo

The first commercially contracted re-supply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) has lifted off.

A Falcon rocket carrying a Dragon cargo capsule lifted clear of Cape Canaveral in Florida at 20:35 (00:35 GMT).

The robotic Dragon ship will deliver 400kg of food, clothing, experiments and spares to the orbiting platform's six astronauts.

It is the maiden flight in a sequence of 12 missions that California's SpaceX company is performing for Nasa.

The US space agency is looking to the private sector to assume routine transport duties to and from low-Earth orbit.

It has given SpaceX a $1.6bn contract to keep the ISS stocked up with essentials, restoring a re-supply capability that the US lost when it retired the shuttles last year.

The terms of the contract kicked in following a successful test of Dragon's systems in May.

That demonstration saw the capsule berth with the ISS - the first commercially designed and built vehicle to do so - and then return safely to Earth.

Nasa has a second company it hopes also can soon begin operational cargo deliveries to the station.

The Orbital Sciences Corporation (OSC) will shortly test its new Antares rocket before undertaking its own ISS demonstration with a robotic vessel called Cygnus.

If that mission - tipped to take place next year - goes well then it will trigger a $1.9bn contract for Orbital.

Nasa wants eventually to put astronaut transport in the hands of the private sector, too.

SpaceX is eyeing this business as well, and is developing the critical life-support and safety systems that would turn Dragon into a human-rated vehicle. The company says it is just a few years away from being able to provide an astronaut "taxi" service.

Nasa's policy of outsourcing its cargo and crew transport needs is intended to find savings that can be ploughed back into building a rocket and capsule system capable of taking humans beyond low-Earth to more challenging destinations.

"We're handing off to the private sector our transportation to the International Space Station so that Nasa can focus on what we do best - exploring even deeper into our Solar System, with missions to an asteroid and Mars on the horizon," explained agency administrator Charles Bolden.

Sunday's nine-minute, 14-second ascent to orbit appeared flawless.

The Falcon dropped the Dragon off in an elliptical path running from 197km above the Earth out to 328km.

"Dragon was inserted into a picture-perfect orbit," said SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell. "Its solar arrays deployed and it's driving its way to station. So, that's just awesome."

Dragon must raise itself to the ISS's altitude, which is presently at more than 400km.

It is scheduled to arrive at the station on Wednesday. It will follow the routine established in May of parking itself just below the platform so that it can be grabbed by a robotic arm and pulled into a berthing port.

The attachment should take place at about 0540GMT.

Dragon is expected to return to Earth at the end of the month.

Its cargo then will include broken machinery and science materials that need to be handed back to researchers.

Kingfisher Airlines Shares Fall 25% In 6 Days

(Century Fox Post):Kingfisher Airlines shares extended their losing streak to a sixth straight day Monday. The stock has been locked down at the lower circuit on each of these days, taking the total losses to 25 per cent over these six sessions.

At 11 a.m., Kingfisher Airlines shares were down 4.9 per cent at Rs.12.60 on the NSE. This was in sharp contrast to the other two listed carriers. Both Jet Airways and SpiceJet shares traded with over 1 per cent gains amid broad market weakness today.

The debt-strapped Kingfisher Airlines, devoid of a turnaround plan to get back into the air, faces a possible shutdown by the government after extending the grounding of its fleet for another week. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) told the airline late on Friday to demonstrate why its permit to fly should not be suspended or cancelled, and gave it 15 days to reply.

The DGCA said the airline had failed to establish a "safe, efficient and reliable service".

Kingfisher stopped flights Monday last week after a weekend protest by staff turned violent. Airline employees have not been paid for seven months.

The company said in a statement it would submit its response to the regulator "well in time" and would also come up with a plan to restore services after negotiating with employees.

Kingfisher, once India's second-biggest airline, has failed to find an overseas airline or other investors to bring in fresh equity.

The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, which estimates Kingfisher's debt at around $2.5 billion, said a fully funded turnaround would cost at least $1 billion. It said Kingfisher had only an outside chance of recovery and that its "massive debt burden, crippled fleet and poor employee morale" would deter a foreign airline investor.

It is now the smallest of India's six main carriers and its steep decline has enabled rivals such as Jet Airways and IndiGo to raise fares in what had been a ferociously competitive market plagued by overcapacity.

Kingfisher, controlled by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, has never turned a profit since its launch in 2005 and before this week was flying only 10 planes. Its fleet once numbered 64.

Kingfisher's lenders, mostly government banks led by State Bank of India, have refused to extend further credit in the absence of fresh equity, but they have shown patience. Indian state banks rarely force big companies to liquidate.

"Banks are still giving time to Mr. Mallya to get an investor. Because if we pull the plug it would be irretrievable. And if we are patient with him possibly there is a chance that he would revive," SBI Chairman Pratip Chaudhuri told reporters.

"Having waited for so long we might as well wait longer."

T20 World Cup: WestIndies Beat Sri Lanka To Lift The World Cup

(Century Fox Post) Colombo: An inspired West Indies tonight clinched the ICC World Twenty20 crown with a comfortable 36-run victory over Sri Lanka, riding on Marlon Samuels` brilliant counter-attacking knock to win a major global title after over three decades.

Batting first in front a 35,000 partisan crowd, Samuels held his nerve as he smashed a heroic 78 off 56 balls to steer West Indies to 137 for six and then the Caribbeans shot out out the hosts for 101 in 18.4 overs.

It is the West Indies` first world title after a gap of 33 years having won the ODI World Cup back in 1979. They did triumph in the Champions Trophy in 2004, but that is not considered a World Cup.

For Sri Lanka and Mahela Jayawardene, it was another case of `so-near-yet-so-far` having now lost four World Cup finals (two 50 overs and two T20s) across two categories.

After Lasith Malinga was caught in the deep, Darren Sammy and his bunch of dedicated soldiers broke into an impromptu Gangnam dance as there was a deathly silence at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Samuels played one of the most memorable innings under pressure as he thumped five of his half a dozen of sixes off T20 specialist Lasith Malinga`s bowling, making batting look easy on a pitch where almost every other batsmen struggled.

A wicket was like icing on the cake as he deservedly won the Man-of-the-Match award. The win was more creditable as Chris Gayle, who has been in marauding form prior to the title clash, failed.

Samuels alone spoiled Malinga`s figures as he went for 54 off four overs after Ajantha Mendis took 4/12.

While only 32 runs came off the first 10 overs, the Caribbeans, courtesy Samuels and skipper Darren Sammy (26 no, 15 balls, 3x4) managed 106 in the back 10.

The total might not have been a challenging one but the manner in which Samuels batted, having scored more than half the runs, the innings will be remembered for a long time to come especially as other West Indian batsmen looked like lambs ready to be slaughtered.

Defending a small but competitive total, Ravi Rampaul bowled a beauty to dismiss Tillekaratne Dilshan. The ball pitched in line and then moved a shade to knock back the off-stump.

Samuels could have removed Jayawardene who swept uppishly but Bravo, covering a lot of ground from the deep, couldn't latch onto the difficult chance.

Jayawardene and Sangakkara steadied the ship, adding 42 runs for the second wicket, although they were not able to give the bowlers a charge.

Finally, Sangakkara ran out of patience as he rocked on to the backfoot to pull leg-break bowler Samuel Badree as Kieron Pollard, stationed at deep mid-wicket, held on to an easy catch. He managed 22.

Angelo Mathews tried a needless lap-shot of a straight delivery from Sammy, which hit the middle stump, as Sri Lanka were reduced to 51 for three.

The situation demanded a special innings from the Sri Lankan captain but he tried an ambitious reverse sweep off Sunil Narine, which gently lobbed to Sammy who took an easy catch at backward point, as the match decisively tilted in favour of the West Indies. Jayawardene managed 33.

Jeevan Mendis, Thisara Perera were run-out due to enormous pressure and after Lahiru Thirimanne holed out in the deep, the writing was clear on the wall.

Earlier, the pressure of playing a World Cup final was telling on Johnson Charles as he offered a simple catch to Nuwan Kulasekara at mid-off in Mathews' opening over which was a wicket maiden.

The first run for West Indies came when Kulasekara bowled a wide after three dot balls in the second over. The first run off the bat came off the 17th legal delivery and the first boundary in the next over when Samuels punched one through covers.

Gayle, who has been predicting results like 'Paul the Octopus' in the last few days was strangled by the Lankan bowlers and finally Mendis got him with a straighter one that looked like hitting the leg-stump.

The Powerplay yielded only 14 runs for West Indies and Sri Lanka had already got the opposition match-winner out of the equation.

There were not many demons in the pitch and the ball was coming onto the bat but Sri Lankan bowlers maintained discipline during the initial phase as West Indies managed only 32 for two in the first 10 overs.



The 13th over saw Samuels finally breaking the shackles as he hit Malinga for three sixes with 21 runs coming off that over. The first six was hit over mid-wicket when Malinga, watching Samuels move towards leg-stump, fired one into the block hole and the batsman flicked it into the stands.

The second one was also bowled in the block hole and this time it was spanked over extra cover. The third one was a length delivery that was hit over long-on.

The 50-partnership came off 43 balls while Samuels completed a well-deserved half century with a six off leggie Jeevan Mendis.

Bravo (19) was wrongly adjudged leg-before off Mendis by umpire Simon Taufel, standing in his last international game.

Kieron Pollard chased a wide delivery to be caught at short third man while Andre Russell tried a sweep shot and was adjudged leg before.

There was no stopping Samuels who hit another couple of sixes ? a hook and one over long-on as the 100 came up in the 17th over. Samuels' bravado came to an end when he holed out in the deep mid-wicket region.

However, that Sammy lifted the trophy in the end, was due to the coolheaded Jamaican.

Cauvery Protests: PM To Meet Karnataka Leaders

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday will hear the Karnataka government’s petition seeking reconsideration of its September 28 directive to obey Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led Cauvery River Authority’s order to release 9,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. 

Intense protests over release of water to Tamil Nadu have been witnessed near Cauvery river basin areas.

The apex court had rapped the state for not obeying the September 19 order of the Prime Minister, who is the chairman of the Cauvery River Authority. 
In the meantime, leaders from Karnataka, including External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, Power Minister Veerappa Moily and BJP leader Ananth Kumar besides Water Resources Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal are meeting the Prime Minister in New Delhi for consultations on the contentious water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. 

The consultations come ahead of the Cauvery monitoring committee meeting slated on October 11. The monitoring panel will decide release of water from Karnataka after October 15. 

Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Sunday defended the state's decision to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, saying it was "unavoidable" in the wake of the recent Supreme Court directive.
