Orange Juice Makes You More Beautiful

Orange juice makes you look more beautiful

A daily glass of orange juice can help improve your skin, hair and nails, say a panel of health and beauty experts.

They attribute the benefits to the vitamin C,potassium and folic acid it contains. Vitamin C is essential in the production of collagen, along with super nutrient Lutein.

Its yellow pigment is linked to reducing sun-induced skin damage and is believed to improve elasticity of the skin.

A 200ml glass of orange typically contains 60mg vitamin C and equates to 100 per cent of an adult's recommended daily amount.

"The adage of 'you are what you eat' is not a new one but science has lagged behind in determining the effect nutrition has on our skin, hair and nails," the Mirror quoted nutritionist Amanda Ursell as saying.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Tips to slow down ageing.

"Beauty experts are starting to see the benefits of a glass of this nutrient packed product, realising it isn't just what you put on your body but what you put into it too," she added.

The research was undertaken with 200 beauty industry workers who are members of CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women).

Two thirds of beauty professionals (65 per cent) said they recommend clients to drink a glass a day as part of their current beauty routine.

Susan Mahy, board director at Cosmetic Executive Women UK, said: "The essential nutrients you need for healthy skin, hair and nails are most beneficial when ingested as part of your diet.

"Our panel of executive women in the cosmetic, fragrance and hairdressing industries concluded that they have a direct effect on the skin," Mahy added

Does Penis Size Matter To Women?

Women who have frequent vaginal orgasms are likelier than other women to say they climax more easily with men with larger penises, according to a new study.

Women who tend to prefer penile-vaginal intercourse over other types of sex also say the same, it said.

"Male anxiety about penis size may not reflect internalized, culturally arbitrary masculine stereotypes, but an accurate appreciation that size matters to many women — just as men feel legitimate anxiety when they enter the mating market about their intelligence, personality traits, sense of humor, social status, height, wealth, and other traits known to be favored by women across cultures," the Huffington Post quoted study researcher Stuart Brody, a psychologist at the University of the West of Scotland, as telling LiveScience.

But other researchers were less convinced.

Women who orgasm through vaginal stimulation may indeed prefer longer penises, but not everyone prefers to orgasm that way, said Barry Komisaruk, who researches female sexual response at Rutgers University, told LiveScience.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Why women seem to be more happy after oral sex or unprotected sex?

But some researchers argue that vaginal stimulation is simply activating a different, internal, section of the clitoris. Women report different sensations from vaginal and clitoral orgasms, Komisaruk said, but which one women prefer largely comes down to personal preference.

In some cases, female orgasm is even more complex. For example, Beverly Whipple, professor emerita at Rutgers University and one of the discoverers of the G spot, a sensitive area felt through the front wall of the vagina, has found that women with complete spinal cord injuries can sometimes experience orgasm, even though the nerves that carry sensation up the spinal cord from the pelvis have been severed.

It's likely that the sensory vagus nerve, which runs in the abdomen but bypasses the spinal cord, is recruited to carry signals to the brain in these cases, Whipple told LiveScience.

In the new study, Brody and his colleagues asked 323 women, mostly Scottish university students, to recall past sexual encounters. They were asked about their recent sexual behaviors as well as how important penile-vaginal intercourse and other sex acts were to them. They were also asked whether penis length influenced their ability to orgasm with vaginal stimulation.

Defining "average" as the length of a 20-pound banknote or U.S. dollar bill, which are 5.8 inches (14.9 cm) and 6.1 inches (15.5 cm) long, respectively, the researchers asked women if they were more likely to orgasm vaginally with a longer-than-average or shorter-than-average penis.

They found that 160 of the women experienced vaginal-only orgasms and had enough sexual partners to compare size experiences. Of these, 33.8 per cent preferred longer-than-average penises, 60 per cent said size made no difference and 6.3 per cent said longer was less pleasurable than shorter.

Supporting the hypothesis that size matters, Brody and his colleagues found the women who reported the highest number of vaginal orgasms in the past month were most likely to say that longer was better.

"This might be due at least in part to greater ability of a longer penis to stimulate the entire length of the vagina, and the cervix," Brody said.

The data supports Brody's claim, Whipple said, but the sample is limited to Scottish university students and should be replicated with a broader group. Nevertheless, she warned against worrying about the findings in bed.

Vegetarians Live Longer Than Meat Eaters: Study

WASHINGTON: It might be time to replace chicken with veggies! According to a new study,vegetarians - especially men - have a longer lifespan than those who eat meat.

Researchers from the Loma Linda University in California found that vegetarian Adventist men live to an average of 83.3 years and vegetarian women 85.7 years - 9.5 and 6.1 years, respectively, longer than other Californians, the Huffington Post reported.

In the '70s and '80s, a series of studies from the university, which has tracked tens of thousands of Seventh-day Adventists since 1958, were the first to show that vegetarians live longer than meat eaters.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Bizarre ways to lose weight.

Seventh-day Adventists have long been known as advocates of a vegetarian diet. The new research presented at Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' 2012 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo is halfway into completion and includes 96,000 people from the US and Canada. Principal investigator Gary E Fraser revealed that the new study found that vegans are, on average, 13 kilogrammes lighter than meat eaters and five units lighter on the Body Mass Index scale than meat-eaters.

Vegetarians are also less insulin resistant. Lean people are also more likely to exercise regularly, eat plants, and avoid cigarettes than overweight people.

Bizarre Ways To Lose Weight

Bizarre ways to eat less

Living off baby food and eating with kiddie cutlery are just some of the ridiculous practices women are following to get thin.

If you think Lady Gaga's fashion sense is bizarre, her diet habit takes the cake. The Born This Way singer reportedly, lives off just jars of baby food in a bid to feel full but still shed the kilos. The "goo" diet reportedly gives you daily intake of only 600 calories, certainly not enough for the grown 25-year-old woman Gaga is.

A UK newspaper reported that ever since this news was out, sales of baby food has rocketed 100 per cent in America, thanks to Gaga fans who want to copy the singer's diet. Hollywood actresses Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston have also gone on the diet, which requires having one main meal a day, then snacking on 100 gm jars of baby food. But babies and adult women have different nutrient and calorie needs.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Tips to slow down Ageing.

Although low in fat, sugar and salt, baby food lacks essential fibre, calcium and vitamin D. Kiddie cutlery trick It's no surprise that Shane Warne's girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley once said, "I'd kill myself if I was as fat as Marilyn Monroe." Hurley goes the extra mile to keep thin by "eating off a small plate and using tiny cutlery." She has even been spotted carrying doll-like kiddie cutlery to the restaurant she's dining at. The actress believes it's a great psychological trick to cheat her mind into thinking she's eating more than she really is.

The Cotton Ball Diet
This diet is all the rage in the US, and requires eating a few cotton balls before a meal to give a feeling of fullness. But sceptics say that if your body doesn't receive the nutrients it needs, it spells trouble. The body will crave them anyway.

Le Forking Launched in France, Le Forking centres around food you can eat with a fork. The Le Forking diet or The Fork It! Method, was brought to life by entrepreneur Ivan Gavriloff, who discovered this way of eating helped him lose weight and thereafter keep it stable. Using this method means you don't eat anything that won't fit on a fork. At dinner, you can only eat with a fork — no knives, spoons or fingers are allowed. So, fish, certain vegetables and grains are in; pasta, cereals and pulses are out. Gavriloff claims 'fork-only' eating can help slow down the speed you eat, helping you feel fuller sooner, and eat less.

The Toothpaste Diet
This fad involves brushing your teeth frequently throughout the day. The taste of mint curbs the desire to stuff yourself with food. The added advantage — clean teeth, but watch out for over-cleansing!

Makeup Tips For Women Wearing Spectacles

Makeup tips for the bespectacled

Remember the time when you dreaded wearing glasses for the simple reason that you were endlessly ragged by bullies at school? Times have changed and wearing glasses is no more taboo.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Tips to prevent Hairfall naturally.

In fact, a spectacled look in the corporate world makes you look smarter and gives you the I-mean-business vibe. However, wearing glasses can seriously leave you in a quandary in the make up department. Wondering how to deck up your eyes without going in the sexy-librarian territory or leaving them bare? We get some experts to tell you how to work it.

Clint Fernandes: For girls who wear glasses, the focus should be on the lips. Do not restrict yourself to certain colours. While applying eye make up, stick to clean, defined lines. Instead of opting for a thin line, go for a more visible, strong eyeliner. Do not apply too much mascara. It might smudge the lenses if you have long lashes.

While applying eyeshadow, do not go beyond the frame of the glasses. Keep it minimal. You can play around with colours as long as it is age-appropriate. Avoid using too much blush, especially cream blush, as your spectacles might rub against your cheeks causing it to smudge. Keep hair away from the face, as it looks messy.

Marvie Beck: I am a fan of coloured pencils for the eyes. Girls who wear glasses simply must wear coloured eyeliner. If the frames are light or rimless, it gives you more scope to experiment with your make up. A very simple yet sexy way to amp up your look would be to apply black kajal on the upper and lower waterline and line the lower lids with a steel gray pencil with a hint of shimmer.

Apply mascara only on the upper lashes. It is a killer look. While applying eye make up go for a strong, defined look, but keep your eyeshadow minimal since eyes tend to look magnified in spectacles. Apply a beige shadow all over the lid with just a little brown in the crease and line the eyes neatly using gel liner.

Kapil Bhalla: When wearing glasses, eyes should definitely be highlighted. The look should be a statement look like an extended eyeliner in black or brown. Choosing the frame is also an important factor if you are wear glasses regularly.

You can choose a sunglass frame with your special numbered lens or take tinted glasses that will make you look glamourous. In case you want to use an eye colour, I suggest you go for metallic shades like silver and copper because they will stand out more than matte colours. On a daily basis, you can either use lots of kohl and mascara or go in for a slight smoky look with mascara.

How Sex Is Good For Health

If you thought the only benefit of sex was, well, pleasure, here's some news for you.

Making love is good for adults. And making love regularly is even better! Not only does it help you sleep well, relieve stress and burn calories, there are several other reasons why you need to have sex more often.

Improves cardiovascular health
A recent study says that men who have sex more than twice a week, had a lesser risk of getting a heart attack than men who had sex less than once a month.

Relieves pain
If you're using your headache as an excuse not to make love, stop doing it. Just when you're about to orgasm, the level of oxytocin, a hormone increases by five times. The release of endorphins reduces aches and pains.

Increases immunity
Regular love making increases the body's level of the immune-boosting antibody immunoglobulin A (IgA), which will make your body stronger against illnesses like the common cold and fever.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Top 10 Places to have Sex

Reduces stress
Stressed out with work or family problems? Don't let it affect your performance in the bedroom. Not only will having sex improve your mood, but a study has proved that folks who indulge in regular bedroom activities can handle stress better and are happier people generally.

Promotes longevity
When one has an orgasm, a hormone called Dehydroepiandrosterone is released, which improves your immunity and repairs tissue and keeps the skin healthy. Men who have at least two orgasms a week have live longer than men who have sex just once every few weeks.

Increases blood circulation
Because your heart rate increases when you're having sex, fresh blood is supplied to your organs and cells. While used blood is removed, you also discard things from your body that cause you to feel tired.

You sleep better
Notice that just after you make love, the sleep you get thereafter is much more relaxed. Getting a good night's sleep will make you feel alert and healthy overall.

Improves overall fitness
If you find going to the gym mundane or working out at home a task, here's another way to help you lose the flab and keep in shape. Regular sex will do wonders for your waistline. Half an hour of love making burns more than 80 calories.

Increases your levels of estrogen and testosterone
In men, testosterone is what makes you more passionate in the sack. Not only will it make you feel way better in bed, but it is also known to improve your muscles and bones, keeps your heart healthy and a check on your cholesterol. Estrogen in women protects them against heart disease and also determines a woman's body scent.

Global Efforts To Tackle Mental Health Disorders

Experts around the globe are calling for a joint effort to tackle the world's leading cause of suffering and disability - mental health disorders.
Nearly 450 million people have mental health disorders and more than three-quarters live in developing countries.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), eight in every 10 of those living in developing nations receive no treatment at all.
Many are the survivors of infectious diseases, natural disasters and war.
In Afghanistan, most families have lost one or more member during the country's 30 years of conflict.
And it's estimated about half of Afghanis over 15 years of age have mental health problems such as depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder.
Outside of the country's capital Kabul there is no mental healthcare system.
Neglect
Afghanistan is not alone - almost half of the world's population lives in a country where, on average, there is one psychiatrist or fewer to serve 200,000 people.

Dr Peter SingerGrand Challenges Canada
Many low-income countries have less than one mental health specialist per one million population, according to the WHO.
Century Fox Report: Aggressive behaviour in Teens linked to violent video games.
In Nigeria, a quarter of patients seen in local health centres have significant depression symptoms yet few are diagnosed and only one in six of those who are diagnosed get treatment of any kind.
In other parts of Africa, like the Ghanaian capital Accra, patients in some mental health institutions are left hungry and naked.
Each country faces its own set of challenges.
In Ethiopia, a major cause of mental stress is domestic violence, which is thought to occur in more than two-thirds of rural families.
Meanwhile people living in Haiti are having to come to terms with the devastation of the 2010 earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people, injured another 300,000 and left 1.6 million homeless. Almost every person on the island was affected. Later that same year a cholera outbreak killed another 6,000 inhabitants.
In May 2012, health ministers from the member states of the World Health Assembly agreed to a resolution on mental health, making a commitment to promote greater awareness of mental health issues and improve care standards around the world.
Mobile help
A global mental health action plan is now being drawn up.
The Canadian government has said it will give nearly $20m (£12.5m) to support 15 new projects designed to improve mental health diagnosis and care in developing countries.
The projects, led by Grand Challenges Canada, will tackle issues that can lead to mental illness, such as alcohol and substance abuse, as well as delivering solutions like counselling and health promotion.
One project will use mobile phones to deliver instant and accessible support to Nigerian women suffering from postnatal depression.
Another will use local health networks and telemedicine to help Afghanis with mental health conditions.
Dr Peter Singer, of Grand Challenges Canada, said: "There is very little funding for mental health innovations in low- and middle-income countries, where mental illness is the most neglected of many neglected diseases.
"It's a terrible denial of human potential."

Information Centres To fight Breast Cancer

Those of a certain age remember what a diagnosis of breast cancer meant in the not so distant past.
While a diagnosis today is still deeply traumatic, patients know their chances to survive and thrive after treatment have dramatically improved.
In October our nation focuses on breast cancer awareness, the importance of which cannot be underestimated. The more women and men know about breast cancer the more they can do to catch it early and choose a proper course of treatment and recovery.
The importance of early detection cannot be overstated. The sooner the illness is identified the less chance it has to spread and the more treatment options are available.
During this month of awareness we urge women to honestly assess whether they know how to do a proper self-exam and, if they don't, to ask a health professional.
While self-exams are important, mammograms are essential to the early detection of breast cancer. Women 40 and over should have a mammogram each year and clinical exams also begin at the age of 40. For younger women without obvious risk factors a clinical exam can be done every two or three years.
Because these screenings are so important New Hampshire offers free screenings for women who are uninsured or under insured. Women can learn more about free screenings by calling the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services at (1-800) 852-3345.
If doctors diagnose breast cancer there are a wide range of surgical options depending on the stage of the cancer and, if a radical mastectomy is needed, the law requires insurance companies to pay for breast reconstruction, which can be done using implants or a woman's own tissue.
Each year the drugs used for chemotherapy become more effective and the brutal nausea that accompanies these treatments can be better controlled by new antiemetics.
Increasingly women with a family history of breast cancer are turning to genetic screenings which can help them understand their risks and better prepare for the future.
Just as medicine has evolved to better fight breast cancer, our society has matured greatly in our understanding of what patients and their families need during this time of crisis. We participate in sponsored walks and runs and proudly display our pink ribbons. It has been amazing to watch giant men brutally blocking and tackling each other on the football field each Sunday wearing pink sneakers.
Century Fox Reports: Tips To avoid Breast Cancer
Patients and their families can choose to keep to themselves if that's what works best for them, but if they want to speak with others facing the same daunting challenges then our hospitals and other health care institutions have organized support groups for every need on every schedule.
Learn more at upcoming events:
On Wednesday, Oct. 10, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital hosts "Cancer Genetics, The ABCs," at 5:30 p.m. For more information call (603) 609-6120
On Saturday, Oct. 13, you can attend the Seacoast Wellness Fair, our Journey to Healthy Living at Community Campus, off West Road, Portsmouth. Activities include: First Aid and CPR (non-certificate) training; exercise demonstrations and activities focusing on skills as diverse as jump roping, yoga, wall climbing; free screenings; programs on healthy cooking and eating. For information, visit communitychildcarenh.org, portsmouthhospital.org, or ffsh.org.
On Wednesday, Oct. 17, Portsmouth Regional Hospital is hosting a "Breast Health Awareness Month Mammography Party," 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information call (603) 433-5191.
On Sunday, Oct. 21, the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Walk in Exeter steps off at 9 a.m. for more information call (603) 471-4104.
When it comes to breast cancer, awareness is power. We urge all on the Seacoast to take some time this October to raise their breast cancer IQ.

Agressive Teenage Behaviour Linked To Violent Video Games

Teenagers who play violent video games over a number of years tend to become more aggressive towards other people, according to a new long-term study.
Researchers said the study was the first to show a clear link between a sustained period of playing violent games and subsequent increases in hostile behaviour.
Girls who play violent computer games during their school years were found to be affected just as much as boys.
The research suggests that long-term players of violent games may become more likely to react aggressively to unintentional provocations such as someone accidentally bumping into them, they added.
The study involved 1,492 adolescents at eight high schools in Ontario, 51 per cent of whom were female and 49 per cent male.
Surveys were carried out annually across four school years with the participants aged 14 or 15 at the start of the study and 17 or 18 at its conclusion.
The teenagers were asked a series of questions such as how often they pushed or shoved people and whether they they frequently kick or punch people who make them angry.
Psychologists used this to give each individual a score for their aggression level at each point in time.
They were also asked whether they played action or fighting video games.
In the final two years of the study they were also asked how frequently they played such games, ranging from never to for five or more hours per day.
Analysis showed that teenagers who played violent video games over a number of years saw steeper rises in their aggression scores during the study.
Others who regularly played non-violent games did not show any evidence of increased aggression.
The trend remained even after taking into account other variables that could be linked to aggression such as gender, parental divorce and marijuana use.
The research team at Brock University in Canada said their results were ''concerning'' and wrote that violent games could ''reinforce the notion that aggression is an effective and appropriate way to deal with conflict and anger''.
“The current study is the first to demonstrate a relation between sustained violent video game play and the progression of aggressive behaviour,” the Daily Mail quoted lead researcher Professor Teena Willoughby, as saying.
The study has been published in the journal Developmental Psychology.

Unprotected Sex Makes Women Happier: Study

Unprotected sex is good for women's health and makes them feel happier, a study which studied the effects of semen's "mood-altering chemicals" has claimed.

The State University of New York study, which scientists carried out via survey rather than through practical experiment, compared the sex lives of 293 females to their mental health.

It follows research, which shows that seminal fluid contains chemicals that elevates mood, increases affection, induces sleep and also contains at least three anti-depressants.

The researchers also claimed that women who have regular unprotected sex are less depressed and perform better on cognitive tests.

Semen contains another of chemicals along with spermatozoa, including cortisol, which is known to increase affection, estrone, which elevates mood and oxytocin, which also elevates mood, the Daily Mail reported.

It also contains thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent), and even serotonin (perhaps the best-known antidepressant neurotransmitter).

Given these ingredients - and this is just a small sample of the mind-altering "drugs" found in human semen - Researchers Gallup and Burch, along with the psychologist Steven Platek, hypothesised that women having unprotected sex should be less depressed than suitable control participants.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Learn Intimate Moves for 'Tighter Sex'.

To investigate whether semen has antidepressant effects, the authors rounded up 293 college females from the university's Albany campus, who agreed to fill out an anonymous questionnaire about various aspects of their sex lives.

Recent sexual activity without condoms was used as an indirect measure of seminal plasma circulating in the woman's body.

Each participant also completed the Beck Depression Inventory, a commonly used clinical measure of depressive symptoms.

The most significant findings from this study were that, even after adjusting for frequency of sexual intercourse, women who engaged in sex and "never" used condoms showed significantly fewer depressive symptoms than did those who "usually" or "always" used condoms.

Importantly, these chronically condom-less, sexually active women also evidenced fewer depressive symptoms than did those who abstained from sex altogether.

By contrast, sexually active heterosexual women, including self-described "promiscuous" women, who used condoms were just as depressed as those practicing total abstinence.

The research suggests it is not just that women who are having sex are simply happier, but happiness appears to be a function of the seminal fluid pulsing through one's veins.

Boost Your Career With Social Networking.

Social media enhances your professional world. You can use it to create your personal brand, establish yourself as an expert in a field or demonstrate fluency with all things digital. The key is to be proactive about managing your image and activity. But it has its negative side as well. If handled incorrectly, it can get you into serious trouble at your current workplace.

How to get started

Creating an account

Having an account on social networking sites like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook is a great way to start. If you have an account with LinkedIn; through the ‘LinkedIn skills’ feature, you can add your skills to your profile and look for companies where they will have the maximum impact. While on Facebook, you can join a page of an organisation or group that interests you, where you can post information or details about things that interest you so that you get noticed. Companies have their home pages on the portal, which display the latest news, interactive videos about their company or hiring details.

Establishing a presence
You need to make your presence felt. Before you join a forum, think about what topics you would like to be associated with. Give your potential employers or experts in the related field a chance to look for you online. One of the easiest ways to do that is have your profile on social sites like LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook. According to the Social Media Today, 42 per cent of the US population have a Facebook account to help them boost their career.

Generating content
To establish yourself as an expert, you have to create content. For example, post articles showing your expertise in a related field. If people find your opinions and perspectives interesting, it will work for you instantly. You don’t have to blow your own horn. Remember it is a platform where you need to share your opinion, not demonstrate it literally.

Know the rules
Social media has very few rules. But there are a couple of things that you need to know about networking through social media.

Dos

  • You need to consider what potential employers or colleagues will see when they find out on social media.
  • Figure out which social media channels you’ll use for professional purposes – it is absolutely okay to have both personal and professional accounts.
  • You need to create content that people following you can forward, re-tweet or repost.
Dont’s
  • Nowadays before recruiting, the HR department of any company does a background check for potential employees. So you need to make sure that you do not post inappropriate content on your account.

  • Do not vent out your anger against your colleagues or your boss on a social networking site, this might get you into trouble.
  • Make sure that you do not put up anything against your company, this might put you in an awkward position.
  • Make sure you do not post prejudiced comments/ opinion about anyone or any company.

Intimate Moves For Tighter Sex

Couples share a great deal of intimacy and comfort in bed. Sex is an extension of that intimacy and a pleasurable act that strengthens their bond even further. Keeping this thought in mind, here are a few intimate moves which are likely to send your senses spiraling.

1. While kissing him, lick and suck his tongue to get his member throbbing. Make it slow and relaxed with love and intimacy thrown in for good measure. The longer your kiss, the better will be the consequent action.

2. In the middle of the act, dig your nails into his butt and pull him in closer. Wrap your legs tight around his butt, which will convey an urgent need for him to be even closer.

3. Have him sit with his legs crossed on the bed or floor. Then straddle him, wrap your legs behind his back, and rock back and forth. As your bodies will be tight together, use it to kiss him all over his face and neck.

Century Fox Lifestyle: Best Kamasutra Positions

4. As your man goes down on you, ask him to work his tongue all over your body. You will be moaning with pleasure within no time!

5. Have your partner lie down, and you lie down on top of him face upwards. Work his member between your legs and watch magic unfurl.

6. Have your man sit in a chair and ask him not to touch you. Tease him with your hotness and that he can't touch you will drive him crazy with unattainable pleasure.

7. Lower yourself sideways onto your man. He'll be able to feel your inner contours in an entirely new way.
