NEW DEHLI: Former BJP leader Keshubhai Patel on Monday announced the name of his new party -- Gujrat Parivartan Party.
Keshubhai Patel, one of the founder-leaders of the BJP in Gujarat, on Saturday resigned from the party to float a new party to contest the coming assembly elections in Gujarat.
Patel is considered as the most powerful leader of strong 'Patel' community in the state.
Patel, who turned 83 on July 24, said he had given six decades and Rana five decades of their public life to the party, in which they worked like a family. "For the last 10 years, I was watching how the Modi government was undermining the BJP's ideology, democracy and constitutional authorities, including the courts. There is no BJP in Gujarat," he said on Saturday.
