26/11 Mumbai Blasts Handler 'Jundal', Asks For Courts Permission To Confess

MUMBAI: Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Hamza alias Abu Jundal, the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant who helped plan the 10 militants rampage through Mumbai in 2008 that killed over 160 people, today applied in a special court to confess of his involvement in the attacks.

The man who handled Mumbai terror strike

Jundal's application came a day after he was reportedly brought face to face with the sole surviving gunman of Mumbai terror attack Ajmal Kasab, who identified him as one of the conspirators of the 26/11 attacks late Thursday night.

Jundal's in his plea before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate P S Rathod said that he wanted to confess his complicity of his role in the 26/11 attacks.

Last week Century Fox Post had reported that India may allow Pakistan to quiz 26/11 Mumbai blasts witnesses.

Kasab had named Jundal among 13 Pakistani handlers who, he said, had come to see the 10 terrorists off as they boarded the Al Hussain, the Pakistani ship, in which they sailed from Karachi to Mumbai on November 23, 2008.

Ajmal Kasab and Abu Jundal were reportedly brought face to face at Arthur Road Jail on Thursday and were interrogated for one-and-a-half hours on the Mumbai attacks.

Mumbai police got permission from the state government to confront Kasab with his alleged handler Abu Jundal.

The police also reportedly wanted to study the differences and discrepancies in the accounts of the two men about the planning and execution of the 26/11 attacks.

Jundal is also an accused in other cases in Maharashtra including the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case, the 2010 German Bakery blast in Pune and an alleged plot to attack the Nashik Police Academy.
Sources said that Jundal also met American LeT operative David Headley, a co-accused in the 26/11 attacks.
