
In the SLP, Jagan said his bail application was dismissed by the high court for the sole reason that he was wealthy and hence could interfere with the process of investigation, influence witnesses and tamper with the evidence. Further, Jagan stated that the high court had held the petitioner guilty when it said: "This Court is of the opinion that individual right of the petitioner for bail cannot have precedence over larger interests of the society which is stated to have sustained wrongful loss by way of deprivation of public money of larger magnitude for development and welfare of the people of the state."
