Fatal Blast In Turkish City Near Syrian Border

At least eight people are reported killed and sixty wounded in a car bomb attack in southeastern Turkey, not far from the Syrian border.
A bus was among several vehicles that caught fire. Police officers were also injured in the blast, said to have been detonated by remote control.
The attack happened near a police station in the town of Gaziantep, where Turkey has opened a centre to receive aid for Syrian refugees.
Ankara has been afraid of the conflict spreading across the border. It believes Syrian forces have been arming militants from the PKK, battling for greater autonomy for the region’s majority Kurdish population.
The past year has seen increased clashes between the Turkish military and the organisation branded a terrorist group by the EU and US.
Gaziantep however has been largely spared the violence.
Although no-one had claimed responsibility for this attack, a group of Turkish nationalists gathered during the evening chanting anti-PKK slogan.
