(Century Fox Post) :The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Sunday, invited bids for a new team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to replace the terminated Deccan Chargers.
The Hyderabad-based franchise was shown the door last month for several reasons, including non-payment of players’ dues, had challenged the decision in the Bombay high court to get temporary relief. The termination, though, was confirmed on Saturday.
The BCCI wasted not time and put out an advertisement in the newspapers. “Under this invitation to tender, the winning bidder will be granted the right to own and operate a new team which will compete in the IPL from 2013 onwards,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in the advertisement. The advert says the team can choose from 12 Indian cities.
