Pranab Mukherjee is set to be sworn in as 13th President of India. That number, conventionally believed to be unlucky, has served Mr Mukherjee well. So well that he has refused to move out of his relatively modest 13, Talkatora Road residence, despite being entitled to a bigger house for many years now. However, He now will move from there straight into the world's largest presidential palace.

Pranab Mukherjee may have to stay as a 'guest' at Rashtrapati Bhavan for a few days after being sworn-in as the President on Wednesday. The outgoing President Pratibha Patil and her family will leave the presidential household - two double-storey apartments - on July 25 afternoon, giving Mukherjee hardly any time to shift into his new residence.

9:00 am: Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers and a host of dignitaries will be present on the historic occasion.
8:55 am: The function will begin with the arrival of President Pratibha Patil and President-elect Mukherjee in a ceremonial procession from the Rashtrapati Bhawan to the Parliament Building.
8:45 am: After Mukherjee takes over, he will be given a 21-gun salute, address the gathering and then leave for the Rashtrapati Bhawan with Patil. He will also be given an inter-services guard of honour in the forecourt of the Presidential palace. Mukherjee will then escort President Patil to her temporary accommodation on Tughlak Lane, where she will stay till her post-retirement home in Pune is ready.
